Team Project

Our assignment is the DePaul Art Museum, and this museum is close to my apartment. However, I had never been there. The museum is in the good size, so if you are walking inside there, you never get lost. There are also staff every corner of the museum. When we went there, there is We Shall Exhibit by a famous artist, Paul D'Amato from Yale University. He focuses on African-American in the West side of Chicago.

His attention points out the life in West Side of Chicago.

Artist Project III

I choose Chalermchai Kositpipat because he is well-know, and he is courage and confident person.
Throughout his background, he is also a hard-working artists. He is so simple in his life, but not in his artwork. He stopped painting, and  he is currently working on his mega project that will be finished in a couple generation. One of the main temple finished, and it spent about 15 years. However, his plan is to build 8 more.

This is the entrance to one of the main temple.

This is one of the main Building that is just finished. His attention is really to use all white color.

The artist focuses on every single detail .

Public Art Chicago

The four seasons by Marc Chagall is one of the hardest one for me to find somebody to take me a picture. Because I went there all alone in day time around noon, and most people around there just go there for smoking, I spend about half and hour there. Hopefully, I found some tourist, and they helped me nicely. As a result of spending half and hour there, I walked around and explore this artwork a lot. It is a nice place anyway.

It is very fun when Gitte assigns us to explore Public Art in Chicago. When I check the website, she gives us. I am kind of amazed because there are a lot of public artwork in Chicago. My favorite one should be Picasso's Chicago. I was lucky when I went there because there are many kids playing on his artwork. I like it.

Another is Monument with Standing Beast by Jean Dubuffet. I know that it was the same lucky day when I went there. While I was listening to the audio file, there were a boy and a girl playing hide and seek. I was so happy seeing them play.
I will tried to go as many as I can in this small break. It is fun and relax to do something that you are not comfortable with.

Art 21

The Art 21 web-site presents many artists in this century in a variety of subject, content and style. The one that speaks to me the most is the Oliver Herring because I can remember it after I finish the reading assignment, it is really fun. I compare his artwork to something that I have seen from the TV. It is similar with the Robot Chicken. One thing that I have noticed from watching those video is the deeply detail that the artist focuses on. Another example is by Laylah Ali. She watched a lot of cartoon and TV. She collects and concentrates on a small single detail. For me, a little of them is OK, but going into too many detail is kind of creepy for me.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Our class went to Museum of Contemporary Art a couple week ago, and for me the one was the hardest one for me to understand. If I went there by myself, I might get only a little idea. Gitte explained many of the artworks to me, and I thanked for that because I understand the concept of this place. Many artworks point out the process how to make the artwork, and it leaves a lot of garbage. The one that I never forget was cut out the part that the artist want to use, and leave out the broader. The concept is the unnecessary thing that was throw away by the artist, and most of the concepts are similar to this. Another example is the wooden hut in the third floor of the museum that projects a film. The film that have only white background and the black dot keep showing the same thing again and again.
The one below represent Chinese Philosophy which is Yin Yang
The good thing that our class went there as a group is more fun!

AI Reflection

The Art Institute's website is very convenient because most of the icons and links that are used on the homepage are mostly in a rectangular shape. I personally love everything around me to be simple and easy to use. This website also use a simpatico symbol in the top of right hand conner, such as clock, calendar, ticket and member. The Exhibition icon at the homepage catches my attention the most because I like to check what is going on now and in the future, so I find one ordinary painting in nineteenth century. The artwork name "Time Transfixed" by Rene Magritte. It will be opened and show soon in the theme of " The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926 to 1938". I do believe that this topic is related to the topic that we had discussed last week. The exhibit will bring us back to the early commercial work in the year before the WW two happened. Exciting isn't it ! I can wait to see it.

Movie Synopsis

The movie "Vincent and Theo" focuses on the relationship between Vincent and his brother, Theo, and it also shows that not only Vincent that has a problem with his life but also his brother. Both of them struggle for their own point-of-view. For example, Theo works in an art gallery in France, and most of his job is to sell the painting by describing and explaining why each artwork has an unique or beautiful. However, most of the paintings that he sells are not his style, and he asks the owner of the gallery a couple time that he wants to open his own art gallery. Because of lacking of finance support, he cannot persuade his expectation. Until the death of Vincent, he decides to open one for Vincent and to present Vincent's effort, and it becomes very successful. One to two years later, Theo gets sick and passes away follow Vincent. Moreover, as we have studied about Vincent in class, we knew that Vincent Van Gogh's life is very different and difficult. Vincent works very hard to express what he see. As a result, his hard work pays him off by becoming one of the famous paint of the century.

The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute trip was really fun even if I got lost with our group. At the beginning, I walk exactly what Gitte's say, but somehow I totally cannot find where our group is. I asked the security "Did you the student group that walk pass this way?", she pointed the way, and I walk follow what she said. However, I did not find you guy. Thus, I opened our assignment, I tried to find out where you guys should go next, and I finally got it. The assignment said that our group would be at third floor, so I walked and I tried to find where the third floor is. I figure it out that the third floor is temporary close, so I had no idea where the group is. Therefore, I decided to walk on our own. I had seen some painting that is in our textbook also its name "kids bath". I walked back, and this time I spent a lot of time on Vincent's painting, and there is one that stand out to me the most is the one that I post below
The trip was awesome, I loved it

The Boat Trip

The boat trip was really fun because I like to be on the boat. Back in Thailand, I used to take a ferry everyday morning to go to school, and I thought that since most people decide to buy a car, there is a lot of pollution on street. Therefore, one way that I can get rid of this kind of pollution is to take the boat trip. I really like the Chicago river though because the river is so gentle, so when we were on the boat, we could listen to the speaker very well. The speaker also made a lot of joke, so it made the trip amusingly. From the past until now, architectures have tried to think, alter and modify the load-bearing structure, so we can have the tall skyscrapers and the beautiful bridges. My favorite building is the Civic Opera house because of the great lovely history. Chicago architecture is importance because Chicago is the biggest city that is located in between east and west, so when people travel to and stop by, they also develop and improve their knowledge from the outstanding landscape throughout their trip. Actually, there are a couple buildings that make me exciting when I decided to move here, such as 77 W Wacker Dr. and the Hardrock Hotel building. I wish if I have more time,  I really want to visit those buildings because each one has their own unique.

Time

Shadow can represent time, so my favorite part of the day is morning. Many time when I wake up in the morning and I walk directly to the lake. Then, I sit there next to the Michigan lake, and look as far as I can reach. The Michigan lake in the morning is so beautiful.

Chicago walk to "SHIFT"

Color can imply people's emotion, and color also can heal our mind. In both way, colors can be advantaged if we use it wisely. There are so many color, but the one that I like the most is dark blue. I personally like blue because It usually means cool or calm. my water canteen is also blue. Moreover, in my culture, colors have a lot of effect on people because you can see from the argue between the red and yellow shirt last year, and many of them are still arguing.

The exhibit was really fun though. I like the middle one the most because it show me when the light is mixed, it becomes white. while I was walking into this exhibit, I felt like I move to another part of the world that it can be rarely touch by other person. Sometimes I like to be personal, so I can concentrate upon my thought 100 percent.

My architecture experience

In my life, I do not have many chances to communicate with an architecture, but I have been to a few construction site in Thailand. Because my father is a carpenter in Thailand, I know some about interior design. Also, my brother just graduated from Academy of Art in San Francisco last year, and his major is interior design. Thus, I told my brother to teach me AutoCAD, so I know how to use it. As you know, my major is engineering, so I have to be comfortable with AutoCAD right away. After I move to Chicago, I went to several museum in here, and I found out about Chicago that this city has a long history about architecture. Chicago had a big impact on American architecture.

This is my house in Thailand that my father uses his experiences to design by himself. He never went to study interior design, so all he uses only his experiences.

Happiness exhibition

Our class went to the Chicago Culture Center last Wednesday, and the machine that supposed to give us the cards was out off service. The next day after I finished my math class, I headed directly from Wright to downtown, and the machine was working this time. I began again at "Hello", and I got the card that said "Remove one shoe and one sock and carry them." I was stunted for a few minutes, and then I thought who is going to do it because I'm not crazy. However, I did. The exhibit provides me a lot of information about happiness and how can I be happy, and it is kind of surprise me by the fact that he give me. For example, a couple has less happiness during they have a children with them. What! Then, my favorite art work in the exhibit is the uselessness is gorgeous because it is huge, and I think he give us a different between art and design. I like when he said "to do something without any goal and any function has it own beauty." Next, I am not quite get in the monkey that hold the quote that said "everybody thinks they are right." What do they imply? Finally, for me, the exhibition is simple because they use mostly black maker without any background, so it is like he just write the sentences on the wall.  However, it presents many documentary and carry a lot of meaningful sentences. Moreover, the video "if I don't ask, I won't get it" infers people as the balloon which at the end they all were broken, and the pin is like the questions.

Art as Charactor

When I was looking for a interesting painting in the internet, I found this one, and I followed until I found the blog below. The person who paints this one is Sarah Christensen. She is also a blogger, and the name of her paint is Fall Tree Painting. I choose this one because it is simple, and full of color. I personally love tree and nature, so I spend most of my time in Lincoln Park. Thus, I decide to take this painting.  The painter used a variety of color, and that is what I like about. This painting reminds me of my personality. I like to represent each color as each character because it is fun. One person can have many character because of surrounding
